Concannon Miller was honored to host Congresswoman Susan Wild for a business outreach visit.

Congresswoman Wild said she is working to meet with many businesses, municipalities and individuals in her first months in office.

“A critical part of this job is forming partnerships,” she said.

Congresswoman Wild met with a group of Concannon Miller shareholders, directors and managers, who talked with her about the impact of the new tax reform law and the current government shutdown.

Next Gen Leader Program Offers Enhanced Opportunities for Young CPAs

For decades, Concannon Miller has advised business owners on succession planning. And more than a decade ago, recognized it was time to start putting their advice into action for their own business.

The firm first developed a succession plan for its shareholders retiring between 2010 and 2020. Those transitions have been very successful and are ongoing.

Recently, Concannon Miller decided to up its game in succession planning even more. In 2015, Concannon Miller started its Next Gen Leader Program, a two-year program geared at preparing its top young CPAs for future leadership positions at the firm.

Concannon Miller Institutes Summer Fridays

Concannon Miller is launching its first-ever Summer Fridays program.

Starting June 30 and running through Sept. 1, both the Pennsylvania and Florida offices will close Friday at noon.

“We’re seeing positive results related to several initiatives we established at the beginning of our fiscal year, and we felt a fitting reward for our employees is to have Friday afternoons off this summer to enjoy themselves and start each weekend a few hours earlier,” Concannon Miller President & COO Ted Witman says.

Employee-Organized Charity Committee Provides Thousands Annually to Local Nonprofits

Casual Friday is common practice in many American offices. Concannon Miller is one of those offices – but its Casual Friday is more than just an excuse to dress down.

Called Jeans Friday, it’s a fundraiser for the firm’s Charity Committee. The Charity Committee was formed by a group of employees in 2008 as a way to give back to local nonprofit organizations.

The $5 donations for wearing jeans really add up. Each month, several hundred dollars are donated to a different nonprofit organization, adding up to several thousand dollars each year.

Concannon Miller's Buddy Program Helps New Employees Feel At Ease

On Mike Dranchak’s first day as a staff accountant at Concannon Miller, he already had friends.

That’s because his company-assigned Onboarding Buddy had already reached out to him. Mike’s Onboarding Buddy, staff accountant Troy Silfies, emailed Mike apartment leads and invited him out to lunch with a few other accountants, as well.

“I was able to get a feel for the area and the company before moving down here,” says Mike, a Scranton-area native. “It’s great to have someone show you the ropes so you’re not just thrown into the fire.”
