Concannon Miller is pleased to be accepted as a Corporate Sponsor of The High Center for Family Business as they open a new chapter in the Lehigh Valley.
The High Center, located at Elizabethtown College, in historic Lancaster County, is one of the oldest and largest family business centers in the country. The High Center offers family-owned and privately-held companies confidential executive peer groups, educational seminars with acclaimed business experts, and other business tools focused on strengthening family businesses through succession planning, leadership training, and legacy building.
“We’ve advised family businesses for more than 60 years and know they are most successful when they work with and learn from others who can offer good advice because of their similar life experiences,” Concannon Miller President & COO Ted Witman said. “With their family business peer groups, advisors and speakers, The High Center offers the high caliber guidance our clients and other businesses in the Lehigh Valley need to take their businesses to the next level.”
Concannon Miller strategic partner Compass Point Consulting is the chapter’s founding partner. Other corporate partners include: Legacy Planning, Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley, The Yurconic Insurance Agency, Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, Murphy McCormack Capital Advisors and myHR Partner.
“The Lehigh Valley is such a dynamic business community with a tremendous number of family-owned businesses and privately-held companies,” shared Scott Burky, Managing Director-New Markets with The High Center. “We knew this was the right place to bring a whole new set of resources and peer group opportunities to the region’s business community.”
High Center Lehigh Valley members will have access to national and regional speakers such as Sima Dahl, brand expert, Doug Box, family advisor and author and Rene Rodriguez, leadership advisor, world class sales expert and renowned speaker coach. Globally recognized thought leaders Simon Sinek (September 27, 2021) and Jim Collins (March 30, 2022) are scheduled to speak live at The High Center Business Forum.
With the corporate partners in place, the focus now is on inviting family business owners to become members of the High Center Lehigh Valley to experience the speakers, participate in training opportunities and tap into the expertise of the peer groups and facilitators.
“Our peer groups will be a blend of accountability, education, and financial transparency to help companies scale and learn,” stated Burky. “Criteria to apply for membership starts with being a privately held or family business with revenue between $5 million and $100 million. Another critical factor for members is having a learning mindset and recognizing the value of education and peer support.”
Burky is looking to have the first peer groups start meeting in June.
